Planning to go in Malaysia? whether it is for vacation, business trip or working for temporary/permanent job. There will be a point that you may need to withdraw cash from your Philippine bank account when you arrived in Malaysia, since it is ridiculous to withdraw ALL your cash in PH and then convert it to Malaysian ringgit, right?
Yes, you can withdraw cash to Malaysia using your PH ATM but first thing you need to know is most of the bank in the Philippines has an international withdrawal feature, however, it is NOT AUTOMATIC. You need to call or go to respective banks to activate the international withdrawal.
For BPI, you may call their hotline (02) 89-100 or go to any branch and tell to the customer service you want to activate your international withdrawal. You can call BPI hotline as well even if you already in Malaysia.
They will ask you for how long do you want it to be activated because they don’t offer permanent access for your security. I ask them to activate mine for 2 years, this process will only take you 1 minute.
So what kind of ATM machine can i withdraw using my BPI ATM card?
You may withdraw using any ATM banks which have a “cirrus” logo that means interbank. Most of the ATMs in Malaysia have this logo including the biggest banks like CIMB and Maybank which has a lots and lots of ATMs, so dont worry whether you can find one. When you withdraw, please keep in mind you are withdrawing Malaysian ringgit bills already so don’t forget to input the amount in Malaysian ringgit.
